Jean-Noel Minier operates a small cooperage in Chagny, France in the heart of Burgundy. He is a true artisan cooper manually making each and every barrel by hand himself.
His attention to detail is exemplified by the hand planing of each stave just enough to remove the impure wood resulting in staves closer to 30mm in a standard 228L barrique. This results in barrels that keep giving well into the fourth and fifth year.
His style is based on tradition with a move to lighter longer deep toast for elegant wines.
Due to the small production, only 100 barrels of 228L are available for Australia each year.
